Do you need a fix of raw fish?  Well we have the inside line on the best sushi in Venice!  Now, our town is rife with restaurants serving up this Japanese delicacy, so in order to make it easy on you,  we have narrowed it down to the best 3.

Hama Sushi- The Hawaiian roll here is incredible! Hama is Venice’s oldest Sushi bar.  Located on the Windward Circle, which was once a canal waterway , Hama was founded in 1979 and has been going strong ever since.  Serving up sushi rolls,  soft shell crab, sashimi, scallop dynamite and too much more to list, Hama is open for lunch at noon during the week and has free valet parking for the lunchtime crowd.  Happy hour is 4:00 -7:00 p.m. daily, and features discounted appetizers, saki and beer.   Lunch specials starting at 12 p.m. daily, with free 2 hr valet parking Mon.-Fri.   Hama also serves as an art showcase for local artists and shows surf movies during the evening.  Visit the Hama-Wood patio bar “Shot-In-Venice” Film Posters, and their “Venice History” Dining Room and Sushi Bar.   This is a must go!

Canal Club- The Dragon roll is here is the one! Located on the corner of Pacific Ave. and N. Venice Blvd., the Canal Club features sushi and Pacific rim cuisine. As well, they have a huge saki, tequila and wine menu, a sushi bar, private rooms and a great happy hour.  As well, the entire restaurant was created to look like a tahitian beach scene. The caterpillar role and sashimi pizza are outstanding!  And, they have plenty of offerings for in the non-sushi department as well including carne asada and wood grilled chicken. Daily happy 5-7 p.m.   This is a must go!

Poke Poke-  On the Venice Beach Boardwalk at Jody Maroni’s.  2011 Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA 90291    Phone (310) 822-5639  Poke Poke is a walk up window that serves up the traditional Hawaiian dish know as Poke.  Dubbed “the surfers sashimi,” Poke is chunks of raw ahi served with sesame oil, onions, seaweed and a host of other options that you can choose.   I like mine with avocado and jalapeno.  Poke is easily one of the best dishes available in Venice and is a revered spot amongst Venice locals.  This is a must go!
