The 2015 Marina Del Rey Halibut Derby is back on track for a good charity fishing event that is fun for all the fishermen in the family. The charity event is scheduled for April 18th and 19th of 2015. It will be the 40th Derby for the fishing club. It is a charity fund raiser for conservation and youth educational work. The MDRA club takes many local kids fishing for free on the Betty-O out of MDR each summer. This last year they took 716 kids fishing. And the other big item the charity fishing tournament helps to fund is the White Seabass Grow-out pens in MDR. This restocking of a heavily affected fishery has begone to show great signs of improving the local catch of tasty White Seabass.
