You know those anecdotes you usually tell at parties: tales of family gatherings, trying to break into your own home, making dinner out of a stick of gum and an olive? This workshop taught by writer/performer Monica Palacios will help you transform a humorous situation from your own luxurious life into a story that reads well in print. Choosing the right details, using imagery and attention to language (some words are just funnier than others–learn why!) are among the tools you’ll gain. The workshop will culminate with students reading excerpts from their fresh rough drafts. Class is limited to 10.

For over 30 years writer/performer international hip chick Monica Palacios has been the creator of solo shows, plays, screenplays, short stories and essays. A highly anthologized writer, Monica has taught at: UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, Loyola Marymount University, Claremont College, Pomona College, Cal State Los Angeles and American Academy of Dramatic Arts. www.monicapalacios.com
