We are pleased to debut our first Red Hen Press reading at the Annenberg Community Beach House. It’s no surprise that this is one of our most popular event’s of the year, you’re in for a treat with poetry and a stunning ocean view. We invite you to join us.

These introspective poets converge to pull apart, re-examine, and explore the complex layers of cultural and self- identity. These poets are no stranger to this theme and each poet navigates it in their own way. Amy Uyematsu’s The Yellow Door, re-defines her own Asian-American identity in the twentieth and twenty-first century, while Peter Kline pushes the boundaries of desire in his book, Deviants. Victoria Chang, also puts a new spin on this concept by exploring the concept of identity and power in her latest collection, The Boss. Also featured in this reading is poet, writer, editor, and literary translator Sholeh Wolpé, who often tackles themes of violence, gender, and cultural identity in her work. Her latest collection is Keeping Time With Blue Hyacinths. The evening will be moderated by Poet and Actress, Hélène Cardona, her latest book is Dreaming My Animal Selves.
