The Other Venice Film Festival (OVFF), a community event dedicated to screening full-length, short and animated films that embody the spirit, energy and diversity of Venice, returns for its eleventh season. The festival will run from Friday, October 10, to Sunday, October 12, with opening night appearances by Michelle Rodriguez and Rie Rasmussen of 1%ERS.

The 2014 OVFF, taking place at the Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Venice will feature more than 50 filmmakers, panel discussions, local artists, contests and parties. On Friday, there will be a screening of 1%ERS starring Michelle Rodriguez and Rie Rasmussen with a Q-and-A with director Francesca de Sola to follow. Friday will also open with the world premiere of the feature film Freedumb, a documentary directed by local Venice residents Laura Rudich and Sean Vanloozen.

Saturday features include multiple screenings of documentaries, shorts and special screenings from The Youth Film Series. That evening at Beyond Baroque there will be a live performance by Musciens Sans Frontieres, last year’s winning music video recipient. In addition, Irish artist Gary Palmer will also have his work on display at the Beyond Baroque. The event closes on Sunday with a Stella Artois beer garden and an awards ceremony.
