Join the City of Los Angeles, Council District 11 and the Venice Chamber of Commerce for the Venice Pride Sign Lighting & Block Party benefitting The Trevor Project. This inclusive celebration of equality and the westside LGBTQ community kicks off at 7pm with dancin’ in the streets courtesy of DJ Victor Rodriguez (Bears In Space) followed by a pre-lighting ceremony at 7:45pm and a magical sign lighting ceremony you won’t soon forget after sundown. The City of L.A. and Venice Pride will recognize trans youth advocate and organizer Shear Avory for their work in the Transgender and Gender-Non-Conforming community. Councilmember Mike Bonin and a special celebrity guest will be on hand to help light the sign in honor of Bonin’s predecessor, Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, the first openly gay person elected to L.A. City Council. Donations can be made to The Trevor Project at VenicePride.org.

Back in the ’70s Venice was famous for its gay beach (nudity welcome) at the end of Brooks Ave. Before long the city banned nudity and the gay beach in Venice disappeared into obscurity. Until now…  Grab your speedos, surfboard, and sun tan lotion — and head to the new LGBTQ Beach located between Breakwater Lifeguard Tower #20 and Lifeguard Tower #21.

Tell your friends!  Directions: From Windward Ave. head directly towards the ocean and look for the rainbow decorated lifeguard tower. You won’t be able to miss it — we promise!   Afterwards cruise by Danny’s Venice,  Canal Club or James’ Beach for Venice Pride food and drink specials.
