Hey there readers!

We have lots of great restaurants in Venice.  However some of these spots have single items that are the stuff of legend.  So, here is a quick list of the best of the best of the best of local restaurant offerings!

Barlo Kitchen and Cocktails– The restaurant as Hotel Erwin has a “breakfast burger” that is ridiculous! This egg topped, tomato confit, gruyere, sriracha aioli monster might just be the best burger ever.  Seriously, go try it and see if you don’t agree.

Brennan’s

There are  many fantastic thing on the menu at this iconic Irish pub.  However, in my opinion they have the best bouillabaisse ever.  A giant filet of perfectly cooked trout served in a broth of fingerling potatoes, tomatoes, beans, and spices, it is awesome!  And if fish is not your jam, check out the mushroom pate or one of their signature pizzas, you will be happy you did!

Cabo Cantina– Want to have a margarita so perfect that you only need one?  How about soaking up the sun and watching the beautiful people while drinking it?  Well then, go to Cabo Cantina and order the 36 oz.  Patron mega-margarita.  It is  a giant, made from premium ingredients and you only need one.

Canal Club– The Canal has so many great things that it is hard to narrow it down to one best item.  So, I will pick two!  The kimchi short rib wraps and the dragon roll are both destination, must try dishes that would make any gourmand rave.   Pair it with anyone of there organic tequilas and you have a big win!

Muscle Beach Juice Bar – Fresh squeezed juice, smoothies, healthy shots, PB&J, hard boiled eggs and more!  They have a super friendly staff and all the performance food you need to get the most out of your day!

Surfside– they locally source organic produce, use sustainable seafood, and humanely raised natural meats, so everything is pretty darn spectacular!  But since I have to choose 1, I am going to go with the fish tacos.  They are rad!

Hama Sushi– Go to Hama and get either the Hawaiian roll or the soft shell crab appetizer.  The roll is scallop, tuna, avocado and ponzi and the appetizer is an entire crab fried, served with a tasty, tangy dipping sauce. And if you go between 4-7 p.m the crab is on sale.  Woohoo!  Go get yourself some crabs! muahahaha!

Sunny Spot  The calamari and the shrimp bruschetta here are both the stuff of legend!  Far from the ordinary, their twist on these two classics are

High Rooftop Lounge –  Everything at High is great, including the roof top panoramic view of the Los Angeles area.  But there are two things that stand apart.  The Ahi poke tacos and the Sonora Sun cocktail.  And they go great together.  It is a match made in heaven: fresh tuna and ponzu sauce paired with premium tequila muddled with fresh serrano chile, a triad of fruit and a chile sugar rim.  Wow!

James Beach– The Pittsburgh pecan ball sundae is the probably the best dessert ever. Hazelnut, gelato, caramel and hot fudge all freshly made make this one delicacy you will not forget.

Jody Maroni’s Sausage Kingdom- Get a gourmet sausage sandwich smothered in onions. They are legendary.  One bite and you will know why they have been on the Venice’s Oceanfront Walk for almost 40 years.

Poke Poke – The “surfer’s sashimi,” Poke Poke serves up a mean version of this traditional Hawaiian dish.  Heaping chunks of fresh ahi tossed with sesame oil, onions and  a plethora of options have established this walk up window restaurants as one of Venice’s best hidden treasures.

Sidewalk Cafe–  If you find yourself at the SWC, and most likely you will, get the Hemingway sandwich.  It is a filet mignon on a roll.  It is darn tasty and SWC has some of the best people watching in the world!

Simmzy’s  has the best beer selection on Washington Square, and that is a fact.  As well, they have the best wings.   Go get yourself the 15 minute wings and see if you don’t agree.  Tasty!

The Cow’s End – Locally owned coffee and sandwich shop TCE is an institution in the area.  Go get yourself a Pitdawg sandwich and you will see why!

Tony P’s Dockside Grill– Go big when you go to Tony P’s!  Get the Alaskan King Crab Leg Combo with a filet mignon! BAM!
