About RIO 2016 Olympics:  The 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place in Rio de Janeiro — a colorful location for South America’s first Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 17 days of Olympic competition will take place from Aug. 5-21. More than 10,500 athletes from 206 nations are expected to participate in 28 sports, including the highly anticipated reinstatement of golf and rugby.

The groundbreaking ROT is comprised of athletes from four nations – Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Syria – and competing in judo, swimming, and track and field.
