Inside information from locals, celebrities and tastemakers who work, play and live in Marina del Rey, California.

Marina del Rey is a little gem just south of Venice, California.  It is a  short bike/walk/skate from Venice.

About:  Marina del Rey’s the Marina is the world’s largest man-made small craft harbor with 19 marinas.   The marina houses a wide variety of restaurants, hotels, bars, boats and a beach.  In addition to great entertainment options, one can find fishing and whale watching tours, parasailing, stand up paddle boarding and more.

To find the best of the best, you have to talk to the locals.  We caught up with  Hilton Garden Inn Marina del Rey’s General Manager, Wendy Rosales, to ask her a few questions about the Marina.  If you’re looking for a source of information about Venice, you can’t do much better than Wendy Rosales.

1. Name, Occupation

2. Two things we should know about you?

  • I am obsessed with my pug “Bugsy” and he loves our many dog friendly locations around the Marina.
  • I have been with Hilton hotels 13 years thus one of my favorite quotes is from Conrad Hilton. “Enthusiasm is a vital element in individual success” This sums up my philosophy of always seeing the glass half full in life and work.

4. What is your perfect day in the Marina?

  • Roll out of bed late on a Saturday, and head to the farmers market for breakfast and to gather beautiful flowers, fruits and vegetables. Grab my bike and take a ride around the Marina.   End up the day watching the boats go back and forth at the South Jetty as the sun sets.

5. If a visitor to Marina had only one day to experience the city, what would you suggest as Marina essentials?

  • A bike or a walk is essential for the Marina del Rey experience.  Also, a visit to Fisherman’s Village,  the Marine Aquatic Center to kayak or a walk on the beach are all fun Marina activities.   Waterside has amazing shopping, and we have spectacular sunsets.

On a hidden beach under a golden sun
